Earth Sciences is the study of the Earth’s structure, processes, and natural resources, and it is particularly significant in Pakistan due to the country’s diverse geology and varied climate. Pakistan’s landscape includes mountains such as the Himalayas and Karakoram, vast plains, deserts, and extensive river systems, all shaped by complex geological and environmental processes. The field covers disciplines like geology, seismology, hydrology, geomorphology, and environmental science, which are crucial for understanding natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, and droughts that frequently impact the region. Earth Sciences also support Pakistan’s economy through the exploration and management of mineral resources, oil and gas, and water resources, while promoting sustainable development and disaster mitigation. Overall, the study of Earth Sciences in Pakistan provides vital knowledge for managing natural resources responsibly, protecting the environment, and enhancing resilience to natural hazards.
Frequency: Bi-annual
